Disney With A Baby – Tips & Tricks

The first time we took bubba to Walt Disney World, he was five months old. It was the most magical Disney vacation I’ve ever taken! I’ll never forget his adorable facial expression when he met Micky Mouse or how he loved his first ride, The Seas With Nemo & Friends.

If you’re able to, I would strongly recommend taking your kids when they are little. Yes, they won’t remember but YOU will and those memories are so worth it. Plus, they get in free to all of the Disney parks until the age of three.

We went to Walt Disney World without any expectations which I think is super important when you’re taking a baby! You never know when you’ll have to change a diaper, go back to the resort for a nap or escape the crowd for some relaxation. The only thing we scheduled was a fast pass to meet Mickey Mouse and we booked tickets for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.

During our first visit with bubba, we stayed club level at the Grand Floridian thanks to my wonderful parents! I’m sure you can imagine they love spoiling our little man! The Grand Floridian is a monorail resort which made getting to and from our hotel room a breeze.

I planned all of our outfits ahead of time. My mom made our Halloween party costumes, we went as Pocahontas, John Smith and Meiko! I also chose matching outfits for all five of us to wear when we met Micky Mouse! I’m all about coordinating outfits so the pictures come out perfect.

On our first day we took the monorail to Epcot. I made sure the stroller was loaded down with drinks and snacks for all the adults, a fan to keep the baby cool and our diaper bag full of everything we could possibly need while in the parks. I packed diapers, wipes, an extra outfit, sun hat, a bottle with extra formula, his favorite plush and a few teething toys. We love Sophie and never leave the house without her!

While we were there we rode The Seas With Nemo & Friends, bubba’s very first Disney ride! He loved looking around and wiggled to the music. We took a few pictures, walked around the world showcase and then decided to head back to our hotel for a break.

After a nap and outfit change we took the monorail to Magic Kingdom for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. The party officially begins at 7pm but they start letting party goers in the park at 4pm! We arrived right at official party start time and grabbed our treat bags. We stopped at a few trick or treat locations and unfortunately had to run for cover because it started to rain!

Once the rain blew over we found a spot for the Boo To You parade and the HalloWishes firework show. I held bubba in my Tula baby carrier the entire time! He was able to watch the parade and feel comforted by being close to me. I wasn’t sure if he’d be afraid of the characters. He wasn’t! He loved when they came over to greet us! For the firework show I put noise canceling headphones on bubba that I bought prior to our trip. He slept through most of it! He woke up at the very end and my husband held him. His face lit up with each firework he saw in the sky!

After the firework show we did a little more trick or treating…mom and dad needed some more candy! We then rode Pirates of the Caribbean and headed back to our hotel for some sleep!

When we woke up the next day we got dressed, had breakfast at the hotel and went straight to Magic Kingdom to meet Mickey Mouse! I think I was more excited then anyone! I’m so thankful we had a fast pass for this experience. We only waited a few minutes in line. If you’re staying on Disney property you can book your fast passes 60 days in advance or 30 days in advance if you’re staying off property. Set an alarm on your phone and book your fast passes the moment you can. They fill up quickly! When we entered the room to meet Micky bubba was immediately focused on him. He couldn’t take his eyes off of him! I felt so much Disney Magic in that moment, it made me tear up!

After that incredible magical moment, we walked down Main Street USA! Again, the tears started to form for me! I waited so long for that very moment. To walk hand in hand with my husband while pushing a stroller with our sweet little one inside! While walking through the gift shops, my husband, David found a street vendor and bought us a Micky shaped balloon. Y’all that thing lasted for weeks and bubba LOVED IT! Honestly, BEST $12 we’ve ever spent!

We then changed bubba into a flounder costume I purchased at the Disney outlet and got in line to meet The Little Mermaid! It was such a fun interaction and the pictures…oh my gosh the pictures. I’ll cherish them forever!

Hot tip, shop at the Disney Outlets! I highly recommend checking the Disney Character Warehouse before your trip. They have two locations not far from Disney property! There you can find adorable costumes for your little ones that are very inexpensive. Not to mention outfits for you and cool merchandise at a fraction of the cost!

After a few hours in the park we drove home. Baby boy slept during the entire car ride, both there and back.

Five months is young but I personally think it’s such an easy age for Walt Disney World, especially if you have help. It was great having my parents there to led a hand! I’m sure they will cherish our trip as much as I will! Bubba was great the entire time. No meltdowns, no diaper explosions and hardly any fuss!

If you have any more specific questions about taking your baby to Disney, let me know! I’d be happy to help you make your trip just as magical!
