On Friday, May 15th at 1:15pm we adopted our foster son, Sebastian. It was such a special, emotional day. A day we had been looking forward to for a very long time.
Due to Covid-19 we were unable to adopt Sebastian in the courtroom surrounded by friends and family. Instead we adopted him via Zoom with the Judge, our legal team and lots of loved ones from all over the country.
Although the day wasn’t what we had originally planned, I think it turned out better than we could have imagined. A few family members joined us at my parents house to watch the Zoom call in real time. We celebrated with a champagne toast and then my mom surprised us with a parade in the driveway. So many of our friends drove by with signs, confetti, cards and happy tears. I cried the entire time!
We have never walked this journey alone, that was made very clear on adoption day. Our friends and family have supported and prayed for us since day one. Strangers on the internet have reached out with well wishes and kind words. Having you all celebrate with us made the day even better.
We are overjoyed to finally share our son, Sebastian Isaac with the world. He has blonde curly hair, brown eyes and incredible eyelashes. He’s kind, loves people and animals, is a Disney fan like his momma and loves trucks like his daddy.
When life returns to normal we’ll celebrate our sweet boy with a huge party and a fun trip to Walt Disney World. For now, David and I are just so happy that his case is closed and we can move forward as a legal, happy family.
Thank you all for your love and support on our journey to becoming parents. Sharing our story on the internet for thousands of people to see/read hasn’t always been easy but your messages of hope are why we continue to share. We’re so thankful that we have been able to encourage others to consider becoming foster parents because every child deserves a happy, healthy home. If you’re thinking about becoming a foster parent or have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I’d love to answer your questions or point you in the right direction.
If you’d like to watch us adopt our son, grab a box of tissues and enjoy!
A BIG thank you to Hannah from Life Stamp Photography for capturing Sebastian’s adoption day. I will cherish these photos forever!
It’s a pity you don’t have a donate button! I’d definitely donate to this brilliant blog! I guess for now i’ll settle for book-marking and adding your RSS feed to my Google account. I look forward to fresh updates and will talk about this site with my Facebook group. Talk soon!
Omg the picture of SEBASTIAN standing and his whole FAMILY behind him, its sooo sooo sooo adorable! YOU NEED to make a huge picture and hang it up. He looks so handsome! I love it!❤️❤️❤️
Every time I see your adoption day content, I am so disappointed that a work meeting prevented me from coming out to support like I had planned to – but what matters the most is that you were sooo surrounded by everyone else, even digitally!!!
